Wednesday 18th & Thursday 19th November 2026

One of the joys of the season has to be Stir Up Sunday (22nd November 2026), but we have a special request to make.

Please get stirring those fruit and spiced mixtures now so there’s time to bake, feed and ice cakes before the fair (18th and 19th November). We welcome your amazing home-baked and decorated creations for our Great Coodes Christmas Cake stand – a highlight each year.

We are looking for advance donations of Christmas cakes, puddings as well as cupcakes and cookies – the latter are best baked nearer the time. It’s a great way to donate in a very personal way towards the Cornwall Community Foundation.

Last year, committee members gathered up friends and family for cake decorating mornings and afternoons, replete with Christmas songs, biscuits, tea and icing paraphernalia. Even people who couldn’t make the fair, were happy to donate. We truly appreciate every single cake and bake donated.

Here’s a little inspiration in the form of our favourite tried-and-tested recipes…

1. The last minute one: Nigella’s Easy Action Christmas Cake (perfect if you have run out of time)
2. A dark and rich classic: Delia Smith’s Classic Christmas Cake
3. Another, slightly lighter classic: Mary Berry’s Classic Christmas Cake
4. No overnight soaking required: Christmas Cake
5. The show-off cake (topped with mixed glacé fruits): The Ultimate Christmas Cake

Tip: This resource for scaling up cake recipes on the Delia website proves SUPER helpful for working out quantities to go in different size tins. When it comes to the decorations – it’s 100% up to you so please have fun and we look forward to seeing your creations at the fair.
